Portree & North East Skye
Portree is the largest town on the island and has a population of just under 2,500 (2011 figures). A great many businesses and shops on the island are located here and it is an essential stop for almost every visitor.
To the north of Portree lies the Trotternish peninsula which is famous for the Trotternish Ridge, a massive geological feature which dominates the landscape. It provides two of the island's most famous landmarks in the form of The Old Man of Storr and The Quiraing. Both are must visit locations, especially for photographers.
