South Skye & SleatThe photographs in this section were all taken in the south and south-east of Skye. This is where the visitor to Skye arrives on the island from the mainland. The main route on to the island is via the Skye Bridge, part of the A87 road from Uig to Invergarry. In addition, there are two ferry crossings possible. The main one is from Mallaig to Armadale with a smaller ferry carrying passengers from Glenelg to Kylerhea.
The landscape here is very diverse. The Sleat peninsula to the south is very fertile with rolling hills. Yet just to the north, across Loch Eishort, lie the Cuillin Hills with their ragged, bare rock mountain peaks. |
