Time lapse videos
Time lapse videos are shot over a relatively long period of time using a stills camera. A typical time lapse video of a landscape can take anything between 20 minutes and and hour to complete and involves taking literally hundreds of still photographs at regular intervals. These are then processed to produce a video which lasts a relatively short period of time - typically 10-20 seconds. The resultant video reveals details not usually noticed when casually observing a scene.

The Cuillin from Glen Brittle
This time lapse was shot at Glen Brittle in late March 2015. Notice the movement of the clouds and the sheep but in particular watch how the weather changes and provides a delightful surprise towards the middle. This video was made from 303 individual still photographs.

Portree Harbour
It was a pretty grey and miserable day in Portree when this time lapse was shot. The first impression from the scene was that there was not enough going on in the harbour to justify even attempting a time lapse. Yet, just look at the movement that was there. The clouds, the water, the seagulls and the fishing boats turned what looked to be a fairly boring scene into a frenzy of activity. |

The Cuillin Hills from Glen Brittle Campsite
Shot in mid-June 2015 this time lapse was shot in mid morning when they were still lots of people around. You will see them moving around over near the shop but some come closer to the camera. Keep an eye on the clouds over the summits. They swirl around and form amazing shapes. |
Calmac Ferry Arriving at and then Departing Armadale
The weather wasn't ideal for this time lapse. It was rather dull with slow moving cloud. This is a composite video made up of two time lapse sequences shot roughly 30 minutes apart showing the ferry approaching Armadale and then departing on the return journey. |
